2 Day Storyboard Workshop with Jane Wu (storyboard artist on Avengers~!!)

Wow~ this is turning out a great week for Avenger fans :)

In 2009, I had the pleasure of working with Jane Wu on the production of Gatchaman at Imagi studio. After the show, many of the talented storyboard team including Jane have moved on to other projects include the summer blockbuster, "The Avengers".

On June 25th & 29th (Monday & Friday, 7~10PM), Jane will be teaching a 2 day workshop on the Storyboard Essentials over at Gallery Nucleus.

If you are a fan of Avengers (wanted to see some of the behind the scene story artworks), a fan of animation, or an aspiring storyboard artist, I would strongly recommend checking out the workshop. You will be in for a treat~!

CAC July Workshop with Glen Vilppu~!!

Organized by California Art Club, master artist Glen Vilppu will be doing a 5 days Figure Drawing workshop at Concept Design Academy from July 25~29, 10~4PM.

Glenn Vilppu is considered one of today’s foremost draftsmen and instructors in drawing and painting. Trained in the classical techniques of the Renaissance masters, Glenn understands the fundamental language of drawing and is renowned for his ability to communicate and inspire students. He teaches students to understand the construction of the human figure, beginning with the structure of the subject, the bones, then adding the muscles and finally the flesh. This intensive week long workshop will address the fundamentals of drawing the human figure.

Tuition is $425 for CAC Members and $475 for non-members. (Non-refundable 50% deposit due on registration)

Class size is limited to 16 students.

Storytelling for Comics and Film with Kazu Kibuishi

Kazu Kibuishi is teaching another storytelling workshop over at Gallery Nucleus.

It is a 7 week workshop meeting every Tuesday, 7 ~ 10PM. The first day of class will start Sept 15 and last day will end on Nov. 3. Class tuition is $500.

Gary Meyer Workshop this Weekend at 3 Kicks Studio~!!

Our friend, Charles Hu at 3 Kicks Studio is running a 2 day painting workshop this weekend with Gary Meyer. Gary is one of my favorite instructor at Art Center and he is well known for his amazing gouache demos of city scenes, figures and landscapes without using any reference. Gary's past projects include "Star Wars", "The Thing" and many other beautiful advertisement & aviation illustrations.

Gary is great at teaching by explaining how things work visually so you can paint the object from memory. I would strongly recommend Gary's class for anyone who wants to learn how to paint. This is a rare chance to learn from one of Art Center's legend.

Sean Cheetham will take you step by step on how he develops his personal painting in this 3 days workshop.
